Above the small holiday town surrounded by a pine forest is the solitary house of Villetta San Martino. This modern and brightly furnished house offers ample room for six persons, with its two bedrooms, bathroom, and large living room / kitchen with a pull out sofa. The generous, partly covered terrace, with its fantastic view over the bay of Diano Marina and the sea, is a great temptation to those seeking an evening of relaxation or a small social gathering. Diano Marina, with its many beaches and year-round events and festivals, is only fifteen minutes away. The closest shops are but ten minutes away in the historical Diano Castello. Villetta San Martino is perfectly suited for tours through the San Pietro valley with its many lush olive groves, and on through the Ligurian countryside, all the way up through to the Alpine foothills, either by car, cycle, or on foot.

El valle de Diano estaba habitado por tribus de Lígures Ingauni dedicadas al pastoreo y a la agricultura. En época romana los bosques del valle fueron consagrados a la diosa Diana, a la cual probablemente fue dedicado un templo. En 1772 los pueblos del valle, incluso Arentino, se fusionaron entre ellos dando vida a la "Communitas Diani", con estatutos propios, independiente del castillo de Diano. Diano Arentino se convirtió en municipalidad recién en 1924.
Visto desde lo alto, aparece como un conjunto de casas separadas por una franja de terreno cultivada con olivos que señala idealmente el límite con las fracciones.





La iglesia parroquial está dedicada a Santa Margarita y en su interior se encuentra un cuadro que representa a la Virgen del Rosario. Otro cuadro representa a San Antonino y a Santa Margarita.






El territorio municipal, conocido por la producción de aceite extra virgen de olivo, incluye otras dos localidades: Borrello y Evigno. La fracción de Diano Borrello fue fundada probablemente por los monjes benedictinos, como nos sugiere la elección de San Miguel Arcángel como patrono, al que está dedicada una iglesia románica (en su interior hallamos un hermoso políptico del siglo XVI pintado por Brea). Evigno es un pueblo enrocado en los pies del monte Scortegabecco, meta turística gracias a la antiquísima iglesia de San Martín, otra probable herencia benedictina.






La cumbre cubierta de hierba del pico de Evigno se usa para el pastoreo desde hace un tiempo inmemorable, tal como atestiguan las numerosas "caselle": construcciones de piedra de aspecto "nurágico" (monumento prehistórico de Cerdeña), que fueron las primeras habitaciones de los Lígures Ingauni. Otro signo del nacimiento de los primeros núcleos poblados en el pico de Evigno es la presencia de tres "neveras": cavidades artificiales revestidas con mampostería en seco para aislar y conservar hielo y nieve.

We loved the accommodations at Viletta San Martino. The view is outstanding. The kitchen could use additional cooking utensils. and the beds a bit hard for us soft Americans. Otherwise a great place to stay in Italy. Close to Diano Costello - a great mid-evil village.

an der Umzäunung, wie teilweise auch vorhanden, Schutz anbringen, damit benachbarte Hunde nicht ungehindert hin und her laufen können. War bei unseren Aufenthalt kein Problem, da alles sehr freundliche und sozial verträgliche Hunde auf jeden Fall eine Fahrt entlang der wunderschönen Küstenstrasse; Hundestrände wir waren mit der Abwicklung, dem Objekt und dem freundlichen Kontakt mit Ihnen sehr zufrieden und empfehlen Sie auf jeden Fall weiter! Sehr schön für uns als Hundebesitzer ist auch, dass Sie eine größere Auswahl an Objekten haben, bei denen Hunde kein Problem darstellen und mitgebracht werden dürfen. Danke für den - viel zu kurzen - schönen Urlaub!

Hotel Panorama, Diano Arentino: für 25 Euro ein super Menu (allein 7 Vorspeisen) also etwas für ganz Hungrige Rest. WonderWheel in San Pietro (alte Mühle) ideal für Kinder, haupts. Pizza San Bartholomeo: Abends Schmuckmarkt hundefreundliche Rest. an Promenade Es ist toll, dass ihr auch an Hundebesitzer vermietet. Wir hatten tolle Nachbarn aus Deutschland auch mit 2 Hunden. War super angenehm.

Im Ort gibt es gute Wanderkarten zu Kaufen, feste Schuhe und auf jeden Fall einen Rucksack mit Getränken, weil es nicht in jedem Ort eine Bar gibt, dafür tolle Landschaften und Trauhafte Ausblicke.
