Cagnes is made up of two parts; Cros-de-Cagnes known for its beaches and sea and the historic Haut-de-Cagnes, where Auguste Renoir spent the last 12 years of his life. In the house that he used to live in there is now a museum in his honor, the Musée Renoir (June – Sept. Wed. – Mon. 10am – 12pm, 2pm – 6pm, Oct. – May – 12pm, 2pm – 5pm) which houses some of his works of art.
The other famous Musée de l’Olivier (Olive oil museum: June – Sept. Wed. – Mon. 10am – 12pm, 2pm – 6pm, Oct. – May – 12pm, 2pm – 5pm) is in the castle and also has a wonderful inner court from the renaissance period.
